Nokia’s Smart Installer for Qt has been covered in the past – it has just received an update which is mandatory. A FAQ posted to the Forum Nokia blogs states the following changes: Nokia Smart Installer v1.1 is mandatory for all Symbian Qt based applications submitted to Ovi Publish

Getting a Qt app into the Ovi store has always been a bit hairy – especially as the list of supported devices was amazingly short when the distribution started! The latest publisher newsletter now contains the following list: Ovi Publish currently supports 19 top-performing device models and that number will continue to grow: – Symbian^3 — N8-00, E7-00, C7-00 and C6-01 – Symbian S60 5.0 — X6-00, C6-00, N97, N97 mini, 5800 XpressMusic, 5235, 5530 XpressMusic, 5230, 5228 – Symbian S60 3.x — E72, E71, E66, E63, E52 – Nokia N900 with PR1.3 and later In addition, developers can look forward to the following changes: Qt Updates COMING SOON – Qt content item cross-platform support – Single set of content metadata for three different binaries for Symbian S60, Symbian^3 & Maemo – Ovi Store UI improvements – New further optimized Smart Installer release – No need to add “additional downloads” notification to the description field Not much to add here…

La casa Finlandese produttore di telefoni cellulari e smartphone Nokia ha annunciato che installerà nuovi server e nuove infrastrutture in India per la messaggistica e il servizio di push e-mail . Questa nuova iniziativa è stata intrappresa per rispettare la posizione attuale del governo indiano e per aiutare le agenzie delle forze dell’ordine a monitorare e-mail e servizi di distribuzione forniti tramite Nokia. D Shivakumar, vice presidente di Nokia India, ha dichiarato: “I nostri server per i servizi di distribuzione saranno attivi nel Paese dal 5 novembre.” Mentre il governo indiano e RIM continuano la lite sui servizi criptati di dati, Nokia ha fatto un passo collaborativo per rispettare le esigenze di sicurezza indiane.
